Types of Events
WEDDINGS
String music adds the perfect touch to this special occasion. Kate
O'Brien will consult with each couple to help select, time and place
the music before, during, and after the ceremony. Her ensembles
can play special requests, accompany singers, or play with any organist.
OBRIEN STRINGS have been in all types of weddings, from simple civil
ceremonies to synagogues and churches of all denominations.
PRIVATE EVENTS
Receptions, cocktail parties,
anniversaries, corporate events,
holiday gatherings, country
clubs. OBRIEN STRINGS can provide
the entertainment and background
music in a private home, restaurant
or club. The music can be strictly
classical or a mixture of familiar
romantic, ethnic and Broadway
melodies. A PA system is available
to gently amplify the acoustic
instruments as well as make
announcements. Guests have been
seen dancing and singing at
these happy occasions!
CONCERTS and COMMUNITY
EVENTS
OBRIEN STRINGS have played concerts at libraries, schools, churches,
fairs, outdoor festivals and coffee houses. They have played First
Night celebrations in New Milford and Torrington CT, and outdoor
summer concerts around New Haven CT and at the Milford Fine Arts
Center. Library concerts are family oriented and include pieces
of musical history, as well as a variety of popular styles in an
entertaining and inclusive atmosphere, with instructive commentary.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
OBRIEN STRINGS presentations for school children have the theme
"All Strings Attached: All Styles of Music on Any String Instrument."
They include historical and personal perspectives, and are tailored
to be age-appropriate for elementary through high school students.
FUNERALS AND MEMORIAL
SERVICES
On somber occasions, there is no substitute for the classical violin
sound to conjure emotions and give expression to deep feelings.
OBRIEN STRINGS is available to prepare programs for and perform
at all such gatherings.
